Dehradun. One more milestone has been added in the success journey of Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital. On Tuesday, Shri Mahant Indiresh Eye Bank was dedicated in the service of public. Shri Mahant Indiresh Eye Bank has also been given the permission to provide training. This is a matter of great happiness that fort the first time any Eye Bank has been given permission to provide training. At this Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital Eye Bank, Corneas will be safely stored for up to 15 days. Chairman of Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital, Shri Mahant Devendra Das Ji Maharaj has congratulated and showered his divine blessings over the whole of Eye Deptt. Of Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital.

On Tuesday, the Eye Bank of Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital was inaugurated at its Eye Deptt. The programme of inauguration was begun jointly by Vice Chancellor, Shri Guru Ram Rai University & Programme’s Chief Guest Dr. Yashbir Dewan, Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital’s Chief Medical Superintendent, Dr. Prerak Mittal, Medical Superintendent (Operations), Dr. Ajay Pandita, Medical Superintendent (Administration), Dr. Gaurav Raturi and HOD, Eye Deptt., Dr. Tarannum Shakeel by lamp lighting.

In his address to the gathering, Chief Guest, Dr. Yashbir Dewan said that he has been associated with this project since the last 4 years. He shared many memoirs related to this project. He gave detailed information on rules and regulations for body donation, organ donation and explained the scientific and medical aspects of them. He expressed pleasure over Eye Bank being opened at the hospital and congratulated Eye Bank’s Medical Director Dr. Tarannum Shakeel and her whole team. He said that by joint efforts of all, this achievement of Eye bank has come to the hospital. He said that the needy people will be directly benefitted by the services of the Eye Bank.

Chief Medical Superintendent Dr. Prerak Mittal motivated the the Eye Bank Team saying that this noble effort will bring light into the lives of so many needy people. He said that it’s a great noble deed to bring light into dark lives.

HOD, Deptt. Of Eye, Dr. Tarannum Shakeel informed that this Eye Bank has come into being due to the ideal guidance of Chairman, Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital, Shri Mahant Devendra Das Ji Maharaj. She introduced the mode of working and future plans about the Eye Bank. She informed that the Eye Camp has also been granted permission to provide training. She said that it’s a matter of pleasure that for the first time any Eye Bank in Uttarakhand State has been provided this permission. Through this Eye Bank, patients suffering from corneal blindness will be benefitted and will be able to get the great gift of vision of eyes. She said that the Eye Deptt. Of Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital will be running awareness programmes from time to time and motivate the general public to donate eyes. She said that the services of the Eye Bank will be publicized on large scale to sensitize the general public.
